I was at a conference this week, and during one of the breaks, a group of us were chatting. The discussion somehow turned to billionaires and all they have—the real estate, yachts, planes, spaceships, power, etc. A woman sitting with us jumped in and said, “You know what they don’t have?”
If you haven’t yet seen American Fiction, I highly recommend it. In one scene, Jeffrey Wright’s character, Thelonious “Monk” Ellison is talking to his girlfriend, Coraline, played by Erika Anderson. Coraline is a public defender, and Monk is just getting to know her. He asks how she feels about defending guilty people.
